4 Policemen Charged In the Beating of Man | |
A police sergeant and three officers were charged by the Police Department yesterday in connection with the alleged beating of a homeless man last February in Grand Central Terminal. The department's Internal Affairs Division brought the charges against Sgt. William Gans and Officers James Conway, Frank Cush and William Erdogan. Sergeant Gans, a 12-year veteran on the force, was charged with conduct unbecoming an officer in the beating of the homeless man, Ishmael Gonzalez, 31 years old, with a flashlight. The other three officers were charged with filing false reports of the incident. | |
